Parrotfish travel lodge

Our first encounter living with backpackers.
There is going to be lots of firstssssssssssssssssssssssssss on our travels.

Our hostel was tucked away in a street behind Port Douglas's main street. The owner was on hand to receive us and was very welcoming and booked us in, he asked where we had come from, and explained that Port Douglas was a quite and sleepy town with a four mile beach to walk on and lots to do on the marina, we could take a bike for free anytime. He has a very good range of well kept bikes. Also he told us about the main street and if its not there (shop wise) then we don't have it here!!!

Our room was very large and spacious with an en-suite shower and toilet, he had also laid out clean towels, the bed linen was crisp and white. We were very impressed for our first time in a hostel. For new owner he has worked hard to have such high standards. He even insisted that there was no noise after 11pm and did not tolerate any unruly behaviour.

The floors were painted blue coral sea scheme and the walls were a bright yellow and blue, with aboriginal paintings on the top landing, also a tv room where you could read.      The pool area was a very good size and very clean.
Breakfast was basic but very good as it was included in the price, and was run by other backpackers in the morning, as they were employed to help..(if you worked there you could get a free bed).

Very good place to network, and share experiences, where to go, what to see and best places to eat.

Roll on Mission Beach.
